NEET Preparation Strategies for Toppers

About The NEET Exam

The NEET exam is a national level examination conducted in India for admission to undergraduate medical and dental colleges. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and has been in existence since 2013. The NEET UG Exam tests the aptitude and understanding of students in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It is conducted by NTA on behalf of Medical Council of India (MCI).

Why Are Mock Tests Important for NEET Aspirants?

Mock tests are a practice test that is usually taken to prepare for a future exam (such as JEE, NEET, SSC etc.). Mock tests are designed to mimic the real test environment as closely as possible. They are typically made up of several questions and have an allotted time limit. A mock test will provide you with feedback that is like what you would get if you were taking the actual exam. It will also allow you to see your progress in comparison with other people who have taken the same mock test.

Mock tests are good for students because they can help them understand their weaknesses and strengths. It also helps them to identify areas where they need to improve to get better grades. Mock tests are an important part of the process of studying for a test. They can be used by students as a way of preparing for the real test, or as a way of getting feedback on their progress in the subject.

It is important to take as many mock tests as possible before the actual exam. This will help you determine what your strengths and weaknesses are. After taking a few tests, you will be able to predict how well you will do on the real exam and what areas need more work. The number of mock tests that one should take depends on the student's learning style and how much time they have before their exam date. The best way to know how many mock tests one should take is to ask themselves questions like "How much time do I have?" "What type of learner am I?" "What are my strengths and weaknesses?". We recommend giving at least 5–6-chapter wise mock tests and 1-2 full length mock tests per week at the peak of your preparation (6-8 months prior to the NEET exam)

How Should Students Analyse Mock Tests?

Students should adopt a data driven method to analyse their performance on mock tests. We suggest keeping a track of all your data in once place (such as an excel sheet) and analyse the following

1.) Their overall score / rank over time (this will help you understand if your preparation is yielding incremental results or not)

2.) The recurring themes / areas where you are making mistakes. e.g., if you are regularly making mistakes in physics, it is a clear indication to focus on those topics and improve your score

3.) The recurring themes / areas where you are always scoring well. This will help you understand your strengths and allow you to prioritize those sections / topics in the actual exam first

4.) The types of questions where you take longer. This will give you an idea about measures you should take to improve your speed on certain topics

5.) The time of day where your scores are typically highest. This will give you an idea about the level of mental activeness you have at different times of the day. While it is imperative that you modify this timeframe of activeness to the actual time of the exam. But knowing when your mind works the best is also a critical input for aspirants

What Are Some Tips to Stay Motivated During NEET Preparation?

1) Take regular breaks: Breaks are important because they help relax the brain and make it easier to focus on tasks. So, take a break every 30 minutes or so.

2) Study in the morning: If you have an exam coming up, try studying in the morning instead of late at night. This can help you study better as your mind will be more focused and fresher in the morning than it will be at night when you're tired from work or school.

4) Create a sustainable study plan and stick to it

5) Set a fixed time limit for studying each day
