The NTA (National Testing Agency) and the Health Ministry have decided to allow few students to retake the NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) exam. Is The CUET An Unfair Experiment For The Current Batch?

This year saw the first iteration of the CUET (Central University Entrance Test). The exam is being conducted for admissions to more than 90 universities in India (including 40+ central universities) and aspires to standardize the university entrance process across the nation. There are also talks of the JEE and NEET being merged into the CUET, which would make it the gold standard assessment across all types of courses (engineering, medicine, arts, sciences etc.).

The NTA (National Testing Agency) was charged with the mammoth task of conducting a multi subject exam with more than 50K+ subject combinations. This year’s exam saw various issues from exam slot cancellations to technical glitches. Academic experts are concerned that the lack of preparedness by the NTA will severely impact the future of the current and upcoming batches. Experimenting with new formats of admissions can drastically impact the quality of admissions and leaves room for ambiguity in measuring a candidate’s skills. Various academics from top universities have even questioned the credibility of the CUET results given that there were so many technical issues this year.

Many feel that the CUET adds unnecessary burden on students to take up coaching. The erstwhile process was more focused on-board exam results and a drastic shift from a subjective assessment to an objective competitive exam gives more power to the coaching industry which may not be accessible to every student in the country. The exam also reduces the autonomy of institutes in creating a tailored admission process based on the type of course. Every university will be forced to follow a cookie cutter template to assess students without giving weightage to soft skills or subjective / domain knowledge.

The CUET is a national level entrance exam for various universities in India. The exam is conducted across multiple phases by the NTA (National Testing Agency) and had more than 1.4 million applicants this year.

NEET UG 2022: How Many Seats Are Up For Grabs This Year?

The MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) will be conducting the counselling process for seats under the AIQ (All India Quota) and state specific bodies will manage the seat allocation under the SQ (state Quota) [15% seats are reserved under AIQ and 85% under SQ]. The NEET counselling process is conducted over multiple rounds and is concluded by a stray and mop up round to complete seat allocation.

How Many Medical Seats Are Up For Grabs This Year?

·         MBBS Government College Seats: 48,000+

·         Number Of MBBS Government Colleges: 322

UGC Chairman Defends CUET Question Format, Says Its An Age Old Format With No Complaints

The UGC chairman came out with his opinion on the recent criticism being hurled at the CUET exam. Many experts feel that using MCQs to test domain knowledge across all types of tests may not be the best way to assess a candidate’s ability. There are also concerns related to the new format impacting the quality of intake (especially in masters programs which have a more subjective evaluation criteria).

The UGC chairman (Jagadesh Kumar) defended the new format, saying that using MCQs to evaluate subject acumen is a time-tested methodology which has not seen any complaints in the past. He also argued that the multi part CUET exam which assesses language, general awareness and analytical skills in Part A and domain skills in Part B is the best way to objectively assess a large applicant pool (this years CUET exam saw more than 1.4 million applicants competing to get into 90+ reputed universities in India). His idea is that a scaled assessment of candidate ability can only be done using machine evaluation and managing high competition of admissions into top universities cannot be dependent on human incapacity, fatigue, and bias.

The CUET (Central University Entrance Test) is a national level entrance exam for admission into 90+ universities across India (including 40+ central universities). The exam was conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) and saw more than 1.4 million applicants in its first ever instance

34 Assam Schools Where Every Student Failed In Class 10th Board Exams

In a shocking story, every student from 34 schools in Assam failed to pass the class 10th board exams. The government is now planning to shut down these schools. The education minister of the state (Ranoj Pegu) in an official statement, said that it is meaningless to spend taxpayers’ money on schools with nil success rate.

The alarming statistics also raise questions on the quality of education being provided in the state. The overall pass percentage for class 10th exams in Assam was only 56.5% this year (the 34 schools with 0% pass rate are included in this sample, there were an additional 65+ schools where the pass percentage was less than 10%). While the government plans to shut down these entities, its students will get a chance to apply in nearby high schools.

It is believed that the COVID-19 disruptions are the main reason for the dismal performance by government schools. Many feel that teachers were not giving enough attention to the students and the change in pattern from last year has caused a sharp decline in the passing percentage in the state. Opposition parties are questioning the states move to shut down schools and feel that it is imperative to open new schools and focus on quality of education.

In the past, the state has taken help from prestigious institutes in the regions (such as IIT Guwahati) to improve the quality of teaching instruction. The poor performance raises many questions on the efficacy of the government in imparting quality education in the state.

CUET Glitches 2022: Fewer Subjects & Exam Centres From Next Year

The CUET (Central University Entrance Test) is a national level entrance exam for more than 90 universities across India (including 40+ central universities). The exam is being conducted by NTA and saw various issues / hiccups this year.

What Were The Key Issues During The CUET UG 2022?

·         Several exam slots were cancelled / rescheduled which led to widespread confusion among aspirants

·         Various aspirants reported technical / server issues while giving the exam

·         Many candidates did not get the centre of their choice and had to travel long distances (sometime to different states) to give the exam

What Are The Planned Resolutions From Next Year?

·         Various reports / interviews by the NTA chief suggests that fewer subject choices and exam centres / cities will be available from next year

·         To avoid cheating, centre declarations will be made closer to the exam date (this will deter centre specific malpractices)

·         CUET will likely be conducted twice a year (following the JEE Mains calendar)

·         Next year may see a merger of three of the largest entrance exams in the country (JEE, NEET & CUET). The idea is to reduce student burden of appearing for multiple tests while standardizing the admissions process across all types of courses

Students Voice Concerns Over NEET UG Results Delay

It has been more than a month since the NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) exam was conducted by the NTA. Despite numerous calls to delay the exam, the authorities went ahead and conducted it on 17th July 2022. The official answer key and results are typically declared within 3-4 weeks of the exam. Students have now started actively voicing their concerns over the delay.

Experts are concerned about the impact of the delay on the counselling / admissions process. Various state college bodies have already written to the NTA seeking clarity on the result declaration timeline. The delay is also impacting the counselling process of other courses (apart from MBBS and BDS). This is severely impacting students who are considering other career choices and may lead to additional cost incurred for admissions or actual wastage of an admission year for many candidates. The ironic situation is that the NTA pushed for an earlier date to correct the academic calendar which was disrupted by the pandemic.

This year saw more than 18 lac applicants write the NEET exam. The scale of applicants and the numerous controversies / glitches may be the reason for the delay. There has been a barrage of protests demanding a re-attempt of the NEET & JEEexam and the delays are only adding fuel the fire.

The NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) is a national level entrance exam for admission into MBBS and BDS courses in India. The exam was conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) on 17th July 2022 across more than 3500 centres in India and abroad.

Candle March Demanding NEET & JEE Reattempt Held Across More Than 50 Cities

A large-scale candle march spearheaded by student activist Pawan Bhadana was conducted yesterday (22nd August 2022). The key agenda of the protest was to reconduct the JEE & NEETexam considering the numerous irregularities which were observed during the first iteration of the exams. Students from more than 50 cities took part in the candle march and many even ended up visiting the NTA office late into the night.

Students faced several difficulties during the first iterations of the JEE and NEET. From reports of cheating / rigging to exam day logistics issues, the students are demanding that the NTA take ownership of its failures and give students a fair chance. Activist Pawan Bhadana will also be appearing on several news channels today / tomorrow to highlight some of the key highlights / concerns related to the movement.

Students are also opposing the NTA and UGCs planned move to merge the JEE & NEET exam into the CUET. Many feel that the idea may be rushed and will not do justice to the inherent differences between the exams.

The NEET & JEE are national level entrance exams for admissions into medical and engineering courses respectively. Both the exams are conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) and had a combined applicant pool of 2.8 million students this year.

Nationwide Candle March For JEE, NEET & CUET Aspirants Announced

Students across the nation are organizing a candle march to demand a re-exam for the JEE & NEET. The march is also to raise concerns against the UGC (University Grants Commission) and NTA (National Testing Agency) for proposing to merge the JEE and NEET exams into the CUET.The movement is being led by student activist Pawan Bhadana and is seeing massive support across social media platforms such as Twitter. The candle march is scheduled on 22nd August 2022 and will start at 7 PM (as per the banners which are being circulated on social media)

Students are demanding a second attempt at the NEET and a third attempt at the JEE exam citing concerns related to cheating, rigging & logistical issues on part of the NTA. Students feel that the issues on the day of the exam severely impacted their temperament and may affect their end outcomes and careers. Their key demands are that the NTA take responsibility for its inefficiency / failures related to conducting the exams and alleviate all the concerns being raised by the students.

The JEE, NEET & CUET are national level entrance exams which are conducted by the NTA. The exams have a combined applicant pool of above 4 million aspirants.

Reasons For NEET UG 2022 Answer Key & Results Delay

The NEET(National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) was held on 17th July 2022 by the NTA (National Testing Agency). The body is known to release the official answer key & results within 3-4 weeks of the exam (based on the trend followed for the JEE Mains), however no such announcement / update has been made. As candidates eagerly await the results let’s take a deeper look into the potential reasons for the delay in declaring the results

Key Reasons For Delay In NEET UG 2022 Official Answer Key & Results

·         This year’s NEET exam saw a record number of applicants (more than 18 lac). Given the volume of students it is likely that the NTA is taking time to ensure there are no major glitches in the official answer key of the exam

·         There were several reports of logistical issues on the day of the exam. From scandals related to cheating / rigging to incorrect question papers being distributed to candidates. The NTA had reassured that a re-exam would be conducted for the affected students which may also be causing a delay in overall schedule of the exam

·         The NTA and UGC are having to deal with several legal hurdles as students from across the country are filing cases & PILs against the exam. There were instances of student harassment in Kollum which have attracted a high volume of litigation against the NTA. Students have also started protesting the UGCs planned move to merge the JEE & NEET into the CUET exam

Students are advised to be patient and allow the NTA to compile the results. The official answer key is expected any time now (tentatively today / tomorrow). There will be a window of 2-3 days for candidates to raise objections (if any) following which the official results will be declared (tentative date as per reports is 28th August 2022)

The NEET(National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) is a national level entrance exam for admission into MBBS and BDS courses in India. The exam was conducted by the NTA this year and saw a record number of applicants (~1.8 million)

Students Express Grave Concerns Over The UGCs Plan To Merge The JEE & NEET Into The CUET

The UGC chairman had recently spoken about a proposal to merge the JEE & NEET into the CUET exam. The idea was to reduce the burden on students who need to appear for multiple exams while standardizing the process of Indian college admissions through a centralized test which can be used across almost every university / college. The plan was met with severe criticism and backlash from students and experts alike.

Students are expressing their concerns about the difference in the difficulty level of the JEE and NEET. Many feel that the knowledge and skillset required to crack each is exam is very different. The NEET tests speed, memory, and retention through a 720-mark test in 3 hours, whereas the JEE tests depth of knowledge and problem solving through a 300-mark test.

There are also concerns over the NTAs (National Testing Agency) efficacy in conducting the exam at such a large scale. This years CUET exam saw various logistical / operational issues which disrupted the examination process for thousands of students. Given that there were issues in conducting a multi subject exam for ~1.5 million applicants, how will the NTA & UGC manage the same for ~4.5 million aspirants (considering that JEE & NEET aspirants will be added to the applicant pool of CUET)

Students are also expressing dismay over the planned timeline of the rollout. NEET aspirants are worried that the announcement adds to the confusion / chaos amongst next years aspirants and adds to their stress of preparation.

Unable To Pass For 20 Years, 37 MBBS Students Expelled By King George’s Medical University Lucknow

In a surprising story, 37 students from the prestigious King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow were expelled after they were unable to clear their back log for the MBBS degree for more than 20 years. NEET UG 2022: No Sight Of The Official Answer Key 1 Month After The Exam

The NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) was conducted a month back on 17th July 2022 by the NTA (National Testing Agency). While the NTA was able to release the official answer key for the JEE Mains in a much shorter turn around time, the same is not the case with the NEET. Various sources had expected that the official results would have been declared by now, but the delay in releasing the official answer key is impacting the same.

Several student groups are also conducting protests across the country against the authorities to conduct a re-exam considering the issues which were faced by aspirants.

The official answer key should be expected this week by aspirants. The NTA will provide a window of 2-3 days for candidates to raise objections (if any). The official results should follow after this. It is advised to keep a track of the latest updates on the official website https://neet.nta.nic.in
