It has been more than a month since the NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) exam was conducted by the NTA. Despite numerous calls to delay the exam, the authorities went ahead and conducted it on 17th July 2022. The official answer key and results are typically declared within 3-4 weeks of the exam. Students have now started actively voicing their concerns over the delay.
Experts are
concerned about the impact of the delay on the counselling / admissions
process. Various state college bodies have already written to the NTA seeking
clarity on the result declaration timeline. The delay is also impacting the
counselling process of other courses (apart from MBBS and BDS). This is
severely impacting students who are considering other career choices and may
lead to additional cost incurred for admissions or actual wastage of an
admission year for many candidates. The ironic situation is that the NTA pushed
for an earlier date to correct the academic calendar which was disrupted by the
pandemic.
This year saw
more than 18 lac applicants write the NEET exam. The scale of applicants and
the numerous controversies / glitches may be the reason for the delay. There
has been a barrage of protests demanding a re-attempt of the NEET & JEEexam and the delays are only adding fuel the fire.
The NEET
(National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) is a national level entrance exam for
admission into MBBS and BDS courses in India. The exam was conducted by the NTA
(National Testing Agency) on 17th July 2022 across more than 3500
centres in India and abroad.
