Over 1 million (10 Lac) students have applied for CUET till now. Delhi
University, Banaras Hindu University & Allahabad University emerged as the
top picks by students. Since each student is allowed to apply for up to 9
papers, a total of 46 lakh applications have been made so far. Majority of the
registrations are from students of Delhi, UP, MP, Haryana & Rajasthan
A total of 86 universities will be admitting UG students through the exam in the 2022-2023 academic session

The Tamil Nadu assembly has also
adopted a resolution against CUET to which Dharmendra Pradhan (Union Education
Minister) wrote to the state clarifying that there is no case for rights
infringement of states and UTs through the test.
The geographic spread of
applications from across the country is expected to be high for the central
test. There are also plans to conduct the test twice from next year which would
increase adoption as well as diversity. The government has exempted 8 central
universities from conducting the test due to “operational difficulties”
Competing head on with JEE (~9 lac
aspirants) and NEET (~15 lac aspirants), CUET may become one of the largest
exams in the coming years
