The community of NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) aspirants is demanding that the NTA (National Testing Agency) conduct a retest owing to the irregularities which were observed on the day of the exam (17th July 2022). The hashtag #NEETUGsecondattempt has been trending on twitter.
Why Are NEET
Aspirants Demanding A Retest?
·
Several
people were arrested across the country in cases related to rigging / cheating
during the exam. A major racket was busted in North India where culprits were
impersonating candidates and appearing on their behalf
·
Many
students felt that they did not get adequate time to prepare for the NEET exam
(this year’s exam was conducted 1 month in advance as compared to last year)
·
Several
centres across the country reported logistical issues such as incorrect
question papers & harassment by exam officials (e.g., Kollum)
·
Students
also feel that there was a major overlap with the JEE and CUET which added to
their stress / anxiety while appearing for the exam
The NEET is a
national level entrance exam for admission into MBBS and BDS courses in India.
The exam is conducted by the NTA and had more than 1.8 million applicants this
year. The NTA is set to release the official answer key for the exam any time
now. The results will be declared post this (the NTA will provide a window of
2-3 days for candidates to raise objections to the official answer key)
