The Joint Seat Allocation Authority has finally released the highly anticipated seat matrix for this year's admission process to the IITs (JoSAA). The counselling process will be based on the rank obtained in the JEE Advancedexam, which was conducted on Sunday, 22nd August 2022 by IIT Bombay.

overall number of seats across the 23 IITs has significantly increased from
16,232 last year to 16,598 this year. Additional seats have been allocated for
female students to promote gender diversity in the esteemed technology
institutes

The Ministry of Education has
launched several measures to increase female enrollment in the IITs. Various
IITs (including IIT Bombay) are also holding open house outreach programs to
promote class diversity

The
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced results will be announced on
September 11, 2022. The admission process for the IITs will start from the next
day (September 12th, 2022)

Only 1,60,038 out of the 2.5 lakh
candidates who qualified for the JEE (Advanced) after passing JEE (Main) had registered
for the exam (1,56,089 appeared for the test across 577 centers in 124 cities)
· The initial list of available seats is expected to be released by 23rd September 2022
The JEE Advanced is a national level
entrance exam for admission into the IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology).
The exam is being conducted by IIT Bombay this year. Top 2.5 lac rank holders
in the JEE Mains are eligible to appear for the exam. The JEE Advanced is
considered as one of the toughest and most competitive exams in the world.
