NEET UG 2022: Rise In Tamil Nadu Applicants, Time Increase & Other Changes in The Exam

 

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET UG 2022) is perhaps now one of the largest and most competitive exams in the world with over 18 Lak (~1.8 million) applicants this year. The exam has undergone several changes such as time duration & number of centres.

Changes Made to The Exam Duration

·        This year’s exam will be 20 minutes longer and will have a total duration of 3 Hours 20 Minutes (as compared to 3 hours previously)

·        Experts claim that the extra 20 minutes will be a game changer for the exam and will be a relaxation for students since the core purpose of the exam is to test accuracy

Rise In Number of Applicants

·        With over 18.72 lakh applicants, this year’s NEET exam has record competition. This year’s exam has seen a significant jump in application (~2.5 lakh)

·        The increase in registrations can be attributed to several reasons such as removal of upper age limit, increased repeaters, pandemic led disruptions in previous year aspirants, global tensions in Ukraine etc.

New Rank Calculation Formula

·        This year’s rank calculation (in cases where there is a tied score) will be based on higher percentile scores in biology, followed by chemistry and finally a consideration of lower proportion of incorrect answers will be used

Enhanced Security in Registration Process

·        Additional security to be added in the registration process through two-step verification and live image checking

This years NEET UG 2022 is scheduled to be held on July 17^th. With many students voicing their concerns related to clash with other important exams (CUET, JEE Mains), delayed counselling process for NEET 2021 as well as less gap between CBSE Class 12^th Boards and the NEET UG 2022 exam, NTA (National Testing Authority) is being questioned about the increased pressure on students and the remedial actions which can be taken to reduce the burden on aspirants.

JEE Mains 2022 Update: Session 2 Application Form Released

The NTA (National Testing Agency) has released the JEE Mains 2022 Session 2 application forms. Students can visit jeemain.nta.nic.in to fill the form. Applicants are urged to check the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. The last date to fill the form is 30^th June 2022. The process for applying consists of registration, form filling, document upload and fee payment. Candidates who have already appeared for session 1 can use the same application number for session 2 registration.

JEE Mains 2022 Session 2 Updates

·         Last Date for Online Registrations – 30^th June 2022

·         Login with application number and password, fill out the details, upload the necessary documents, pay the application fees, preview, and submit (also take printouts)

The JEE Mains 2022 will be conducted on July 21^st, 22^nd, 23^rd, 24^th, 25^th, 26^th, 27^th, 28^th, 29^th & 30^th. Applicants will get access to them admit cards few days before the exam. As per the updated exam pattern negative marking has been introduced in section B. 501 exam centres to host the exam this year. The admit cards for session 2 will be released soon (as per previous year trends they are typically released mid-June)

The NTA will be releasing this year’s NEET 2022 admit cards soon. Students are check neet.nta.nic.in for more updates. Despite no announcements on the exact release date of the admit cards the exam is scheduled for July 17^th. The exam will be conducted across 540+ cities in 13 languages. Registrations have crossed a record 1.8 million (18 lakh) this year out of which 10.6 Lakh are women and the remaining 8 lakh are men.

NEET UG 2022 Past Year Admit Card Trends

Admit cards are typically released 15 days prior to the examination. Last year they were released only 15 days before the actual exam.

·         2018: Exam Date (6^th May), Admit Card Release (17^th April)

·         2019: Exam Date (5^th May), Admit Card Release (15^th April)

·         2020: Exam Date (13^th September), Admit Card Release (26^th Aug)
