The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) is conducted every year for students graduating school, who wish to pursue their under-graduation in engineering. The third toughest exam in the world and the second toughest in India, JEE is divided into 2 stages, namely- JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. The scores from JEE are used for providing admission in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), which are the topmost engineering colleges.
JEE tests the knowledge of its candidates in 3 subjects-
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Every year lakhs and lakhs of students
appear for the entrance exam, and not even half of them clear it successfully.
With the rate of selection being so low and the syllabus being so vast,
optimizing one’s preparation time becomes a necessity. One of the best ways of
doing so is by focusing on only those books which are the most relevant. A list
of such books can be vis-à-vis:
Physics:
The subject of physics combines theoretical concepts with
practical problems. Any physics problem can be easily solved if the concept has
been understood nicely by the students. Candidates shouldn't ignore the NCERT
textbooks for physics because they build a foundation. Here is a list of
essential physics books that top IIT students believe will be helpful from both
a JEE Main and JEE Advanced perspective.
• H.C. Verma's Concepts of
Physics (Volumes 1 and 2) - Also known as t he ABC of Physics, this is one
of the best books. It contains thorough descriptions of all the Physics topics.
Although containing less numerical, this book is excellent for theoretical
preparation. The majority of its questions appear on the JEE test.
• Halliday, Resnick, and
Walker’s Fundamentals of Physics - This book presents the concepts and
principles underlying all the physical phenomena that surround us. This book is
useful for people who need more formal language to grasp physics. It helps
students understand difficult concepts of physics.
Chemistry:
Although the IIT JEE Chemistry syllabus is extensive, less
calculation and 80% theory have made JEE Chemistry a tad easier for the
majority of JEE students. NCERT Chemistry textbooks are excellent for teaching
the fundamentals, but if candidates want to sharpen their notions, they can
check out this brief list of books for the JEE Mains Chemistry exam.
• OP Tandon’s Organic
Chemistry- JEE aspirants can quickly master the fundamentals of organic
chemistry from this book and comprehend the reactions and mechanisms. One of
the books that toppers usually choose for organic chemistry.
• JD Lee’s Concise
Inorganic Chemistry- Many students who spend extra time to understand
appreciate the book's clear explanations. Topics are explained well and are
simple to understand. This book contains every difficult problem relevant to
inorganic chemistry.
Mathematics:
Before beginning to solve problems, students must have a
firm grasp of the concepts, theorems, and formulae in the field of mathematics.
NCERT textbooks are a good place to start for JEE Mains preparation because
they clearly teach the fundamentals. It's all about speed and accuracy in math;
it's not about memorization.
• RD Sharma's Mathematics
Class XI Vol. I and Mathematics Class XII Vol. II- From trigonometry to
algebra, aspirants can study the fundamentals of math from this book. Students
can easily learn how to answer all mathematical problems. This is among the
most popular books for learning the principles of numerous mathematical
subjects.
• SK Goyal’s New pattern
IIT JEE Mathematics- This book is suitable for tackling a variety of
practice problems. It is a study guide for JEE Advanced aspirants
