What Steps Should the Government take to Improve Education in India

While everyone is aware of how important education is in determining how our lives will turn out, there has been a significant issue with it in our nation. The Indian education system is struggling with several difficulties. It is unavoidable that efforts have been made to alter the current educational system by the Indian government and other organizations. There are still several problems that need to be resolved, though.

Rote learning

While technology has advanced, we are still unable to do away with rote learning. Even though we are aware that IB schools are altering the educational system at a local level, we also need to be aware of how small the IB student population is. They offer an educational system that is not accessible to everyone. Therefore, the government must seize the initiative and get rote learning out of all levels of education. To prevent kids from memorising what is being taught, conceptual learning must be promoted in classrooms. Students will benefit from a greater understanding of the ideas as well as improved retention and application.

Evaluation system

Marks still hold the trump card when it comes to determining a child's future, which frequently affects students negatively. Students frequently do poorly due to the stress of exams. The assessment should place more emphasis on a student's engagement in class, projects, communication, and leadership skills, and extracurriculars than it should on a three-hour assessment. The kids won't provide their greatest effort or receive their best evaluations till then.

Better training of educators

The most top-notch training should be provided to teachers because they play the most significant function in educational institutions. Children are, after all, moulding the country's future. Many people view teachers as their second parents. They therefore should receive their instruction in a way that will enable them to parent the kids while they are away from family. Teachers should foster a friendly, familial environment in the classroom where kids can sense the love and compassion there, which will then show in their actions.

Introduction of technology

We are all aware that the industrial revolution 4.0 has just begun. We are in the midst of a technological renaissance, and in this environment, technology and education cannot exist in isolation.

To prevent tech from seeming foreign to students later in life, it must be introduced to them from the very beginning of their education.

Since it is there that their future resides, Indian schools must accept technology and education with an open mind and spread it to the children.

Conclusion

The elements that colonial teachers built into their educational systems are still present in ours. Students should realise that it's not necessarily about becoming a powerful, wealthy individual. The topic should be humanistic. Additionally, students should be taught in-depth lessons about life's ideals and instilled with moral standards. They need to learn that success isn't based on wealth and that life has much more to offer than material possessions.
