CUET Exam Planned Twice A Year, Class 12th Qualifying Cutoff To Be Introduced

The NTA (National Testing Agency) and the education ministry are planning to introduce a few modifications to the CUET (Central University Entrance Test) from next year. This years exam drew criticism from students due to technical glitches, delays and exam slot cancellations. More than 6 lac aspirants (out of the 14 lac) faced some or the other issue as per reports.


CUET UG Key Modifications From 2023

·         The exam will be conducted twice a year (in line with the JEE Mains). The first round will be in December and the second in March

·         A qualifying class 12th cut-off will be instituted. The marks will also be used as a tie breaker in case during admissions.

·         The CUET results will be valid for a certain period

The CUET is currently the sole admission criteria for undergraduate admission into central universities. There are also talks of merging the JEE and NEET into the CUET. Several factions of academics and students have voiced their grave concerns against the centers plan to drastically alter the admission process. Many feel that the CUET has been executed in a rushed manner and reduces the importance of conventional school by encouraging the need for coaching.

The CUET (Central University Entrance Test) UG (Undergraduate) is a national level entrance exam for UG admission into 90+ universities in India (including 40+ central universities). The exam is being conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) and had more than 14 lac applicants this year
