Is Northwestern Semester Or Quarter Based?

The year is divided into four quarters at Northwestern.

You must begin with the fall and winter quarters, which run from the first of January following winter break until the end of spring break. Then there is spring quarter, which runs from after spring break until after summer vacation.

What Is Northwestern Known for Academically?

There are many reasons why Northwestern is unique, but the one we heard from students the most was a feeling of diversity and balance.

NU draws many outstanding individuals from various walks of life, including engineers, artists, potential politicians, journalists, performers, and mathematicians. The fact that all of these folks may enroll in a top-notch program with students from other top-notch schools is what makes Northwestern unique.

Some universities are renowned for just one or two majors, such the caliber of their engineering curriculum. NU is unique in its own right and offers a rich experience for both students and graduates since it has a little bit of everything.

SAT Score Requirements

Northwestern University's SAT score standards are highly stringent, making it a very competitive school. Northwestern's SAT 25th percentile score is 1440. This indicates that only a little more than 25% of accepted students have a score below 1440.

Northwestern's SAT 75th percentile score is 1550. It indicates that roughly 75% of accepted students received scores below 1550. Northwestern's average (50th percentile) SAT score is 1495, according to the data we have.

SAT Score Policy:

The College's approach of calculating students' scores is based on its SAT Score Policy. Each school has a unique version of this policy. The Northwestern University approach is known as the "highest section."

This technique is also referred to as "superscoring." The University will take into account your highest section SAT score across all tries when enforcing this regulation.

One kid, for instance, took the SAT test twice. His composite score on the first try was 1530. Math accounts for 775 of the 1530 total, whereas EBRW accounts for 755. The student's composite SAT score on a second attempt was 1530. However, he scored 755 in math and 775 in EBRW this time.

As a result, his first and second attempts achieved his greatest scores for math and EBRW, respectively. The highest score for each subject will be taken into account because NWU follows the rule of the highest section score.

Northwestern's required ACT score

Northwestern's 25th and 75th percentile ACT composite scores are 33 and 35, respectively. There are no minimum score requirements at NWU. A score below the 25th percentile will nonetheless make it difficult for you to be admitted.

The average of the four section scores makes up the ACT composite score. You must score roughly where you wanted in each segment if you want to earn the correct composite score.
