The NTA (National Testing Agency) conducted a NEET re-exam on Sunday 4^th September 2022. The exam was conducted for students who faced issues / glitches during the first iteration of the exam on 17^th July 2022. The exam was conducted across a few centers in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala & Rajasthan.

NEET Re-Exam Paper Analysis

·         Overall Difficulty: Moderate. The exam was considered slightly easier than the exam which was conducted on 17^th July 2022

·         Syllabus Split: Class 12^th syllabus was given more importance as compared to class 11^th (there were 5% more questions from class 12^th)

·         The NTA has already released the official answer keys. The results should be expected any time now (tentatively this week or next week)

·         The overall cut-off is expected to be higher as compared to previous year (this is due to higher number of applicants and lower overall difficulty of the paper)

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) will be announcing the cut-offs and the results for the JEE Advanced 2022 shortly. Fearing NEET Exam Results, 21-Year-Old Tamil Nadu Student Takes Her Life

In another horrific case of a student succumbing to exam pressure, a 21-year-old NEET aspirant (Rajalakshmi) committed suicide on Thursday (1^st September 2022). Rajalakshmi had attempted the NEET exam for the third time this year and allegedly committed suicide after analyzing the official answer key which was made public recently. Rajalakshmi had been preparing for the exam to fulfill her fathers dream of becoming a doctor. Her mother is a housewife, and her father works as a laborer. Rajalakshmi’s body was found in her room on Thursday afternoon, she had taken her life by hanging herself.

Tamil Nadu has seen several cases of students committing suicide this year. The Tenkasi District Collector stated, "Police say she took her life due to fear of NEET exam result. An autopsy will be conducted shortly on the woman’s body. We are investigating in this regard.”

These cases should be a wake-up call for the authorities to make amends to the examination system in the country. An increasing number of students have been voicing their concerns about exam stress on social media. The NTA or the center is yet to provide any concrete resolution / long term plan on the same.

JEE Advanced 2022: 23 IITs Offering 17,000 Seats This Year

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority has finally released the highly anticipated seat matrix for this year's admission process to the IITs (JoSAA). The counselling process will be based on the rank obtained in the JEE Advancedexam, which was conducted on Sunday, 22^nd August 2022 by IIT Bombay.

Seats Allocation, Reservation And Overall Increment.

·         The overall number of seats across the 23 IITs has significantly increased from 16,232 last year to 16,598 this year. Additional seats have been allocated for female students to promote gender diversity in the esteemed technology institutes

·         The Ministry of Education has launched several measures to increase female enrollment in the IITs. Various IITs (including IIT Bombay) are also holding open house outreach programs to promote class diversity

·         The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced results will be announced on September 11, 2022. The admission process for the IITs will start from the next day (September 12^th, 2022)

·         Only 1,60,038 out of the 2.5 lakh candidates who qualified for the JEE (Advanced) after passing JEE (Main) had registered for the exam (1,56,089 appeared for the test across 577 centers in 124 cities)

·         The initial list of available seats is expected to be released by 23^rd September 2022

NEET UG 2022 Re-Exam: NTA Guidelines, What To Carry To The Exam Centre

For the applicants who faced issues during the first iteration of the exam on 17^th July 2022, the NEET UG 2022 re-exam will be conducted on Sunday, September 4, 2022.In addition to the impacted applicants from two centers in Rajasthan, two in Madhya Pradesh, and one in Uttar Pradesh, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has granted permission to a candidate from Kollam to retake the exam (there was an incident in the city where female candidates were forced to remove their inner wear in the name of frisking)

The NEET exam saw a 95% attendance rate and was administered as a paper and pencil test on 17^th July 2022. The official answer keys for the exam have been released and students have a brief time window to raise objections (if any). The official results are expected by 7^th September 2022.

NTA Guidelines for NEET UG 2022

·         Medical aspirants must submit a self-declaration form, which reveals their health status, along with their NEET UG 2022 admission card.

·         Additionally, candidates for UG medical programs must attach a colored 4 x 6-inch photo or a postcard-sized photo in order to be admitted to the NEET exam.

·         Candidates will also need to submit their NEET UG admit cards in addition to the NEET OMR sheets.

NEET UG 2022 Dress Code / Items Allowed

·         Only half-sleeved tops or garments are permitted.

·         Clothing with intricate stitching, flowers, brooches, large buttons, and other embellishments are not permitted.

·         Big-pocket clothing and trendy jeans are not approved.

·         Leggings are not permitted for NEET female students in NEET 2022.

·         As per NTA NEET dress code, low heels, sandals, or chappals are permitted.

·         Female applicants should refrain from wearing jewelry such as earrings, nose rings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets, and anklets.

·         It's also forbidden to wear watches, wristwatches, bracelets, cameras, jewelry, and other metallic goods.

·         If a candidate wears cultural or customary clothing for the exam, they should arrive at least an hour before the last reporting time.

·         Only female employees will frisk the female candidates, who will be in a secluded area.

DELHI CM ARVIND KEJRIWAL LAUNCHES VIRTUAL SCHOOL TO PROVIDE NEET, JEE, CUET & SKILL BASED TRAINING FOR STUDENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, announced the opening of a virtual school on Wednesday and said that applicants from across the nation will be eligible to receive admission in this virtual learning academy. On August 31, the Delhi Model Virtual School (DMVS) opened its application period. The school will be for grades 9 to 12.

At an online media briefing, Mr. Kejriwal stated, "The admission to the schooling platform would be open to learners all across India and they will also be trained by specialists for entrance tests like NEET, CUET, and JEE along with skill-based training."
According to Mr. Kejriwal, the lectures would be recorded and uploaded online in addition to live classes.

According to the Chief Minister, the nation's first virtual school would mark an important turning point in the field of education. There are many kids who are unable to attend school due to barriers like the distance or financial constraints. Many parents choose not to send their daughters out, hampering their educational rights. The virtual school intends to bring a halt to all these mishaps.

CUET UG DEBUT EDITION CONCLUDES AT 60% ATTENDANCE: RESULTS LIKELY BY SEPTEMBER 9TH

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared that the nationwide attendance for all six phases of the first Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate Admissions (CUET-UG), was 60%. According to agency officials, the results will be declared within the next 10 days, or at the latest by September 9.

CUET UG 2022 Key Highlights

·      While the exam was successfully administered nationwide, on the final day for the 6^th phase of the CUET, the NTA reports that technical difficulties were observed at the Radha Govind University, Ramgarh, Jharkhand centre, and the exam for the 103 students who were affected will be re-administered soon.

·         According to NTA officials, attendance was not dismal and averaged between 75% and 80% in areas with central institutions, including Delhi.  The countrywide calculation of the attendance is recorded to be 60%. Because of administrative issues, the universities in the northeastern states were this time excluded from participating in CUET. As a result, attendance was less accurately documented in those states.

·         The University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman, M. Jagadesh Kumar, stated that the commission would investigate all potential causes for the low attendance rate of 60%." In Delhi, the overall participation across all phases ranged from 75% to 80%. This is the highest turnout in this area. In 10 days from the final exam date, we hope to announce the results," claimed the UGC chairman.

·         Due to several cancellations and postponements of papers caused by technical failures reported at the test centres, the CUET exam, which was initially scheduled to be administered in two phases, had to be administered in six phases. The first phase took place in July, while the following five phases took place throughout August.

·         The exam was administered in 489 testing sites spread across 259 cities in India and 10 cities outside of India. An aggregate of 14,90,000 people signed up to take the test

·         According to data submitted by NTA, 2,86,000 candidates were registered for the sixth phase, which was conducted on Tuesday, whereas 12,04,000 candidates were scheduled to take the exam in the first five stages. The NTA released a statement saying that the fourth and final day of Phase 6 of the CUET (UG) - 2022, which was Tuesday, August 30, 2022, was successfully conducted for 1,40,559 candidates in 444 Examination Centres throughout 239 Cities including 04 cities outside India (Muscat, Riyadh, Dubai, and Sharjah) in both slots.
